Option Two - Our Surveying and Fitting service
As home owners ourselves, we too are in the market for finding the most attractive, affordable and high quality products for our living space. We've searched far and wide to put together a portfolio of products that have enhanced our lives and hope we can help offer the same for you. We always suggest you consult your local building inspector prior to starting any work but we are also able to advise.
Our surveyors and fitters in the photos below are either fully trained joiners or have been on specific staircase fitting courses.
Parkgate staircases do offer a nationwide surveying and fitting service. In most instances the survey if free of charge to make sure the staircase you are choosing is going to fit and work.
BUILDING REGULATIONS FOR STAIRCASES

As we are often asked we thought it may be useful to inform our clients as to the regulations surrounding many aspects of home improvements as well as building regulations pertinent to staircases. Although we sell stairs of diameter 100cm on this site, that does not neccesarily mean they comply with all regs. We always suggest you contact your local council prior to any work. However below is part K of the building regs BS5395.

Some more useful information regards to staircases
Pitch - the angle between the pitch line (steepness of stair and the horizontal/floor line). The maximum pitch for domestic stairs is 42°.
Going - the going of a flight of stairs is the horizontal distance between the face of the first and last risers. The individual going of a step is measured from face of riser to face of riser and for domestic use should be a minimum of 220mm.
Rise - the rise of a flight is the vertical distance between the floors or landings connected by the flight. The individual rise is the vertical measurement from top of tread to top of tread. The maximum individual rise for domestic flights is 220mm.
Riser bars – these are additional safety bars that can be fitted between treads to ensure there is no gap greater than 100mm.
Individual Riser Height
UK Building Regulations require that each individual rise must be of equal height and fall within 170mm to 220mm. these spiral staircases can be adjusted to this full range.
Clear Width
UK Building Regulations require a minimum Clear Width on each tread of 600mm for staircases serving one room only. For a main staircase this should be 800mm so often stairs of 1800mm in diameter are required or tread width of 800mm.
